Gaming in India: The Budget Reality

Console and PC gaming in India faces a price reality that international guides ignore. GPUs cost 30-50% more here due to import duties, and "budget" Western builds start at $500 (Rs 42,000) for just the PC. Here is a realistic, India-optimised guide for a complete gaming setup.

The PC Build (Rs 45,000-55,000)

For 1080p 60fps gaming in most modern titles:

  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 5600 (Rs 9,500) — still the best value gaming CPU in India. The 7600 is better but costs Rs 5,000 more for 10% gain.
  • GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4060 (Rs 23,000) or AMD RX 7600 (Rs 21,000). Both handle 1080p gaming excellently. Buy from official channels (RPTech for Nvidia) to avoid inflated prices.
  • RAM: 16GB DDR4 3200MHz (Rs 2,800). Corsair Vengeance or Kingston Fury. 16GB is the sweet spot — 8GB is not enough, 32GB is overkill for pure gaming.
  • Storage: 500GB NVMe SSD (Rs 2,500) for OS and favourite games + 1TB HDD (Rs 2,800) for everything else. WD Blue or Crucial P3.
  • Motherboard: B550 (for AMD) — Gigabyte B550M DS3H (Rs 6,500). No need for expensive X570.
  • PSU: 550W 80+ Bronze (Rs 3,200). Corsair CV550 or Antec Atom. Never buy unbranded PSUs — they can fry your entire system.
  • Case: Ant Esports ICE-211TG (Rs 2,500) or Deepcool MATREXX 40 (Rs 2,800). Both have good airflow and a tempered glass panel.

Monitor (Rs 10,000-13,000)

A 24-inch 1080p 144Hz IPS panel is the sweet spot. The Acer Nitro VG240Y (Rs 10,999) and LG 24GN60R (Rs 12,499) are the two best options in India. Do not buy a 60Hz monitor in 2026 — the difference is night and day once you experience 144Hz.

Peripherals (Rs 5,000-8,000)

  • Keyboard: Cosmic Byte CB-GK-21 (Rs 1,800) — mechanical, hot-swappable, RGB. Best budget mechanical keyboard in India.
  • Mouse: Logitech G102 Lightsync (Rs 1,200) — proven sensor, lightweight, comfortable. Used by professional gamers worldwide.
  • Headset: HyperX Cloud Stinger (Rs 2,500) or Cosmic Byte GS430 (Rs 800). The HyperX is worth the premium for comfort during long sessions.
  • Mouse pad: Any large (800x300mm) pad for Rs 300-500. Bigger is always better for low-sensitivity gaming.

Chair and Desk (Rs 8,000-12,000)

Skip the "gaming chair" marketing. A proper ergonomic office chair is better for your back and costs less. Green Soul Jupiter (Rs 5,999) or CELLBELL C83 (Rs 4,999) with a simple 120cm desk (Rs 3,000-4,000).

Total Budget Breakdown

  • PC: Rs 50,000
  • Monitor: Rs 11,000
  • Peripherals: Rs 5,500
  • Chair + Desk: Rs 10,000
  • Grand total: Rs 76,500

This setup handles every popular game in India — BGMI, Valorant, GTA V, Fortnite, and even newer titles at medium-high settings. Upgrade the GPU in 2-3 years and this build stays relevant for 5+ years.
